Google announces software suite…
My dad just got back from the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas where Google co-founder announced the new Google Pack. It is a free software bundle that includes things such as Google Earth, Norton Antivirus, Picasa (Google’s Photo Editor), Mozilla Firefox, and Adobe Reader…to name a few. It isn’t an operating system that can compete with Windows, nor does it have anything comparable to Microsoft Office, but it is Google’s first step into the software industry…
I think it is just the beginning… POINT=GOOGLE
Looks like “The Challenger” Google has done some sly marketing at the Rose Bowl game this year. Last night I noticed Google Earth being used on the JumboTron in the midst of a highlight reel. As I looked closer I saw that they used Google Earth to zoom in on Texas Memorial Stadium in Texas…then they showed highlights of the Texas team throughout this year. It then went back to Google Earth and the view zoomed out and flew over to Southern California where it zoomed in on the Coliseum…then it showed highlights from the Trojan’s season. Then it panned out in Google Earth and zoomed in on the Rose Bowl where it started showing highlights from the actual game…pretty cool stuff…and pretty good advertising…everybody around me was talking about it, saying stuff like, “hey that’s Google Earth…have you tried it yet?” POINT=GOOGLE
